Today, we’re diving into the fascinating case of Gosia: a dramatically dark type with a soft-toned base. Let’s explore how her colours come together to create a harmonious, signature style.

If Gosia’s colouring were a painting, it would be a rich, dramatic composition with soft, muted undertones:

Dark evergreens, soft blacks, greys, and muted shades of green and blue — a palette that is at once atmospheric, moody, and deeply calming, drawing you in completely.

Why Gosia Is a Dark Colour Type

When we look at the colours Gosia wears, we notice a preference for dark tones — blacks, deep burgundies, and rich, muted shades mixed with light neutrals. These hues harmonise beautifully with her colouring: they don’t overpower her, and she never looks faded or pale when wearing them near her face. Even her black hair doesn't look 'too much' with the rest of her colours. This is another case, much like Alexandra’s, where the client is already aware of the colours that suit them.

As we often mention, every type can wear black to some degree, but Hellebore can wear it in the most direct, striking way without it feeling too heavy or harsh. Gosia, however, isn’t a typical Hellebore — she is very soft-toned. So, while black works on her, it’s slightly too straightforward and plain for her unique palette. Her version of black is a softened black, perfectly adapted to her muted, gentle undertones.

Now let's have a look at a few colour wheels, that belong to Hellebore:

They represent the light, mid-tone, and dark shades of Hellebore and we can see that the light shades look a bit too light for Gosia. Even within the Hellebore colour type, everyone is different — some Hellebores naturally have lighter colouring that borders on Columbine (mid-tone and cool), like Eva Green, for example:

The light palette of Hellebore doesn’t read the same light next to Eva's colours.

In other words, Gosia, our charming Hellebore, is really a dark Hellebore.

Here's her analysis:

Gosia is a dark, cool Hellebore colour type with low to medium brightness and high contrast.

This means that Gosia’s Hellebore palette is dark and — most importantly — soft, but as Gosia's contrast is high we've mixed her dark shades with Hellebore's light shades so she can maintain her high contrast in the looks she chooses in the future:

How to Apply Your Colours to Your Personal Style

We’ve selected 15 key shades that serve as signature colours for Gosia as a soft Hellebore. Based on her real-life photos, we determined that her style can be described as classic casual with a romantic and dramatic undercurrent.

With this in mind, we’ve created the following looks, inspired by similar styles and built around her personalised colour palette:

Gosia’s outfits are based on dark, soft shades, framed by black and deep burgundy accessories. Because her contrast level is high, she can successfully mix light and dark Hellebore shades in one look.

Gosia Can Wear All Hellebore's Colours

Being one colour type — in this case, Gosia being a Hellebore — means she can successfully wear all Hellebore colours, and it’s a really large palette!

However, they won’t look the same as her signature palette. If we imagine it as a funnel, one colour type’s palette can be divided into different levels. At the centre are your signature shades — the most harmonious ones. As you move outward, the colours still suit you, just with slightly less impact.

Nevertheless, it’s still your full palette, so you can use any of those colours depending on your mood or the occasion.
